(bottom) In phyllotactic domes, building blocks may occur in many manifestations, and they form patterns in any of three symmetry hierarchies. The first one is the helical, the second the concentric, and the last the radial. Their counterparts in biology are parastichies (spirals), canalization (annulars), and closepacking (60/120 and 90 degrees zones) in capitula, or flower heads.
