Of 135 photographed sunflowers, 30 capitula were examined for the occurence of right- and left handed Fibonaccian parastichies, and of parastichies in Lucas numbers (1, 3, 4, 7, 11, ...).

In the table, only counted spirals are given. The last column shows the turning direction of the (expected) 55 parastichies. Conclusion: 2 of the 30 capitula, or 6,7%, showed Lucas numbered parastichies. The other sunflower heads had Fibonacci numbered parastichies with no significant preference for the turning direction (43,3% left, 50% right).
