Of 135 photographed sunflowers, 30 capitula were examined for the occurence of Lucas numbers (1, 3, 4, 7, 11, ...), and for right- and left handed parastichies.

In the table, only counted spirals are given. The last column shows the turning direction of the (expected) 55 parastichies. Conclusion: 2 of the 30 capitula, or 6,7%, showed Lucas numbered parastichies. The other sunflower heads had Fibonacci numbered parastichies with no significant preference for the turning direction (43,3% left, 50% right).
